Overview

PinScout is provided by Sleepycat Software LLC. It is a drop-alert service for limited-run enamel pins: you follow shops, describe what you collect with filters, and receive alerts when matching products appear.

PinScout requires an account, and your account information and preferences are stored on Sleepycat Software systems so that feeds and alerts can reach each device you sign in on. This policy describes the information PinScout collects and how it is handled. It does not describe the practices of the third-party shops PinScout links to.

Information you provide

PinScout receives the following information from you:

  • Account information, such as your email address, an optional display name, and sign-in details. If you create an account with a password, it is stored in a protected form and is never displayed back to you. If you sign in with Apple or Google, PinScout receives an identifier for your account with that provider.
  • Preferences and content, such as the shops you follow, the filters you create, your alert and notification settings, and any shop requests you submit, including the shop name, address, and note you provide.
  • Support communications. When you contact support voluntarily, Sleepycat Software receives the information included in your message, such as your email address, message content, attachments, and troubleshooting details you choose to provide.

Information collected automatically

To keep your account secure and deliver alerts, PinScout collects:

  • Device and alert information, such as a push notification token issued by your device platform, the device platform and type, the app version, and your time zone.
  • Subscription status. Purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play depending on the device, and PinScout uses RevenueCat to verify and manage subscription entitlement. RevenueCat may process an app user identifier, device and operating-system information, app activity timestamps used for entitlement operation, store receipts or purchase tokens, and purchase and entitlement history. Sleepycat Software does not receive or store complete payment-card information. See the RevenueCat privacy policy.
  • Technical and security information, such as IP address, request timestamps, and basic server logs used to operate the service, keep it secure, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot problems.

How information is used

  • Create and secure accounts, including sign-in and password-reset messages
  • Save your follows, filters, and alert settings and evaluate them against new products
  • Deliver push alerts and feeds
  • Verify and manage subscription entitlement and restore purchases
  • Respond to support requests and other account-related messages
  • Protect the service, detect and prevent abuse, and enforce our terms
  • Diagnose faults and improve reliability
  • Comply with legal obligations

How information is shared

PinScout shares information only as needed to run the service:

  • With service providers that process information on our behalf, such as subscription management (RevenueCat), push notification delivery, transactional email delivery, and hosting infrastructure. These providers may use the information only to provide their services to us.
  • With Apple or Google as needed to process purchases, sign-in, and subscription status.
  • When required by law, or when we believe disclosure is needed to protect the rights, safety, or security of users, the public, or Sleepycat Software.

PinScout does not sell personal information, does not use it for advertising, and does not share it with third-party behavioral analytics or data brokers.

Product information from other shops

PinScout alerts you to publicly available product listings from third-party shops. That listings information is not your data, and PinScout is not affiliated with or endorsed by the shops it covers. Opening a listing takes you to the shop's own site, where that shop's privacy practices apply.

Data retention and deletion

  • Account information and preferences are retained while your account is active.
  • You can delete your account in the app. When you do, we delete your account and the personal information associated with it, except for limited records we are required or permitted to keep, such as security, abuse-prevention, or legal-compliance records. Residual copies may remain in backups for a limited period before being overwritten.
  • Purchase records are retained by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat according to their respective policies and legal obligations.
  • Support emails may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to answer the request, maintain business records, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information, including encrypting traffic in transit, protecting passwords and device tokens in storage, and limiting access to those who need it. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

Children's privacy

PinScout is a general-purpose collecting companion and is not directed specifically to children under 13. Sleepycat Software does not knowingly collect personal information from children through PinScout.

Your choices and rights

You can change your follows, filters, and alert settings in the app at any time, sign out of devices, and delete your account in the app.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your information, or to object to certain processing. Contact us to exercise those rights.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when PinScout's functionality, service providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top will be updated when changes are published.
